Field Check

This morning I hiked out into a field with a table, chair, laptop, guitar and music. I thought it would be good to get out into a vast open space and play the ‘album’ ( the 12 songs I’ve chosen to record.) I wanted to hear it all in a different space. Whew.. that’s a lot of guitar playing but Maggie (my new guitar) is sounding great!

Everything gets the go-ahead! But, it did make me realize that I should do MORE pre-recording work. More listening back to the songs… more imagining of the whole puzzle and each song and how it’s put together. I think doing this work will make my intentions clear, and the foundation strong.. and then the other creative and spontaneous bits that fall into place will be set upon solid groundwork.

I’m pretty anxious to get officially recording though! So I did set up my microphones and record an acoustic version of one of the songs, just to hear the sound of the room, the guitar and where my voice is sitting. It’s a great sounding space!

Another big smile.

A good friend sent me this quote a while back:

‘To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.” Joseph Chilton Pierce
