A Journey to the Borders

—- A gracious thank-you from the bottom of my heart to the people who have donated to the making of Leopardwood! Robyn and I did a very joyous happy dance when we saw the response after having a few days away from the internet.

Apart from working on the visual entity of the upcoming album, Appletreecafe and I have been busy taking in the local sights and journeying through the Australian Countryside.

We were very graciously lent a 4X4 Ute. Which we then took out to some fantastic wild places,

‘out where the crows fly backwards to keep the dust out of their eyes’

As I overheard a lady saying as we sipped a beer at Cameron’s Corner, where there is just a small pub and literally nothing else. Cameron’s Corner marks the spot where 3 Australian states meet… New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia.

For 4 nights we slept under the stars in a swag, ate yummy food cooked in our camp stove over the fire and watched each stunning sunrise and sunset. We drove red dirt roads during the day, crossed deserts which are green from the recent rain, and watched as Kanagroos and Emus scattered as we passed.

On our first day out we got bogged in the mud and were incredibly lucky to have a very friendly Australian couple find us 5 minutes later and pull us out. It ended up being a fantastic campsite (pictured below.) Australia continues to astound and inspire with it’s expansiveness and beauty.
