DAY 2:  Wed. April 27th

6:40am.   I walked at sunrise and again, imagined the album complete and amazing. I visualize myself sitting at the cafe in Broken Hill, enjoying a celebratory soy latte and writing a card to appletreecafe!!!  This is my goal.  This is an amazing opportunity, to be at Kalyanka, alone for 6 days!!!

7:58am  Gold Field … 128 bpm.. instead of 120.  much better.

9:39am oops, did a whole recording of Gold Field and forgot some of the arrangement ideas i had.. so I may need to do a little re-touch — gonna go up to ‘the cafe’ and come back with a fresh coffee and REDO!!!

10:40am  I think I have the 11th song.. I wasn’t sure which one should round off the album.. but I started writing a little ditty for appletreecafe while I was waiting for the coffee machine to warm up.  I think I’ll record it on the piano, I’ll do it last.. on sunday.

sister lets just brighten up

the sky we are running across

re-tie your red shoelaces

and lets do this.

Like we do, capture sunlight

What a process this is.  Working without interruption and with such focus.  It feels magical to me.. like I’m in a whole little world, effected by everything.  Every part has a purpose.

11:13am  Giving Gold Field a rest.  Still isn’t sitting right.

11:18am  Send it Away.

12:49pm what a gift… i had previously recorded the guitar parts on Send it Away and they were keepers.  Raw of course but good.  And then a one-taker with the vox and a bit of doubling and I think it’s nearly a wrap.  Will check up on it again.

2:39pm  Worked on Photographs.  Guitar and Vocals!

It’s Ginger Beer O’Clock!

4:04pm  did vocals on Outback!  coming along… coming along.

5:00pm the Chicken

run, dinner, shower, chickens

7:25pm  it’s dark, starry sky… beautiful temperature.  I’m grateful for this amazing weather because it inspires.  I’ve got a couple of candles going in my room and a funky lamp that appletreecafe and I picked out.  It feels cozy.  Gonna pound out some guitar tracks on The Chicken!!

9:00pm  K.  Guitar tracks done and lead vocals.  This is the first time I’ve done a night session and I’ve got to say it was quite productive.  Vocals sound warm and have a nice dark color.  Might have to keep working at night!!!

9:30pm.  Pushed through for another 1/2 hour and recorded some vocals on Leopardwood (the song).  Will have a listen tomorrow.  I think I captured some grit :)

Day 2 is done.  Yes.
