Day 3 on the water. (Sydney to the Whitsunday’s)
We ended up in some seas yesterday afternoon so ended up in Forster to rest, batten everything down and get ready for a long day to follow. The anchorage was so narrow and the current was strong, so just after falling asleep the anchor alarm went off… Turned out it was a shift in tide, but I still couldn’t sleep and knew we’d be getting up at 1:30am to depart.

We left the harbour at 2 am while it was still dark. I caught up on a couple hours of sleep, but was awake for sunrise. It was stunning. Saw some more whales too!
It’s now 20 hours later, and we’ve arrived in Coffs Harbour. We had some larger seas today and 20 knot winds… Myrtle handled it very well and we were prepared. We’re at a dock this time so I should be crashing hard knowing no anchor alarms will be going off!
We caught the first fish of the trip!!! Consequently we had sashimi for lunch! Pretty yummy. We ended up catching 3 more fish
And yes, I’m learning lots about fishing, but most importantly…
Hold the fish as far away from your body and as close to the camera as possible to make it look huge!
